I reviewed this 84-year-old patient in relation to a right upper lid ptosis. Thank you for your informative letter stating that she had a right V and VII nerve palsy and a s/l gull weight was observed (maybe hearing inserted) in the right upper lid to provide ocular surface protection.
A reduction in the right palpebral aperture measured at 6 mm on the right in contrast with 10 mm on the left and the right lid margin is almost bisecting the pupil. However, I consider it quite risky to remove this (same word s/l gull brace here)in order to improve the right upper lid position.
I have tried Onelook.com, google, medical dictionary etc. Can't seem to find any reference to this anywhere.
