Any info on Transcend?

On the strength of my resume and a little bitty terminology test, I got a call from a recruiter. I was quite impressed with her, very flexible, decent cpl across the board, shift differential, no "cut" in cpl for speech recognition. Plus, she wants to put me on accounts that are actually right in my vicinity. Seems almost too good to be true, but then maybe I've been with ******* for too long . . .
Does anybody have any more information on them?

If this is Transcend out of Atlanta, I've just been hired by them too and have been *very* impressed with the recruiter and how organized things are. Although I've seen bad press about them on the MT boards, a couple of MT's that I know who've been working with them for a while give them very high marks.

Excellent! I haven't accepted a position yet. Would you mind keeping us updated on your thoughts? I really liked the lady who did the recruiting, she seemed right down to earth.

I've worked for Transcend as well for almost 4 years. You may want to re-verify that part about no "cut" for speech recognition. I do both straight transcription and speech recognition accounts, and there is approximately a 40% "cut" in cpl. Just want to make sure you have your information correct before you make a decision. Good luck!

Thank you for that info. I got to thinking after I posted that I probably flubbed up as far compensation for SR.
Do you like their SR platform? I haven't experienced the joys of SR yet but I haven't heard a lot of encouraging stuff about it. Seems like it is still in its infancy - and you know what it's like raising an infant!

I've only worked on this SR platform, so I have nothing to compare it to. It's not too bad, though from what I read none of them are ever going to be "perfect." The company IS very flexible as far as scheduling goes, and my team lead and manager are great. Overall, I enjoy working for them.

I just had a phone interview with Transcend, they offered me a position, using beyondTXT SR platform. So how is everyone doing at Transcend? I would love some input before I decide. Thanks!

I have an interview tomorrow afternoon with Transcend. I do have a question about SR though. About how many lines can you get in an eight-hour period?

ERL, there is no one here that can answer that for you. Your question is really how many lines can YOU do in an eight-hour period, and that is going to depend on your skill and experience.
I have seen posts that many companies want you to do about double the lines that a satisfactory MT can do, and to do those lines for about half of the compensation.
Some MTs make good editors, not all, and some MTs cannot switch gears to the degree that they can make a living doing editing. As similar as the two jobs sound, they require totally different skill sets.

Hi,
Don't know how helpful this will be, since I am working on an eScription account, so different account, different platform, different supervisor.
However, my scheduling, too, has been incredibly flexible, and my supervisor is very accessible. Seems to be a theme.
Re SR, my experience and understanding from others is that it depends hugely upon the platform. eScription is an excellent platform for SR, and I have heard from several people at Transcend that it' the best one out there. Since Transcend works with several, including their own proprietary one (BeyondText), I tend to believe it.
