I just got a new laptop for Mother's Day, An Acer with Vista, 3 GB, and installed everything I need to work, including the latest version of Express Scribe, (I believe 4.22). Every voice file I played sounded like they were in the bathroom dictating, very echo-like. I played the same files on my desktop, also with Vista, Express Scribe version 4.18, and they sound a lot better. Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to help this? I have compared settings and made sure they are the same, but it did not work. I might start thinking about purchasing a different player if I cannot get this to clear up a bit. I thought it might be the speakers in the computer itself, but it sounds great when you play music or other sounds.

Did you try File, Special Audio Processes? If not, it might be as simple as playing with that, starting with Undo (Restore Original Audio).

I had the same issue with a newer version of Express Scribe. Someone sent me this link to download an earlier version and that took care of my problem.

Here's the link: http://www.tucows.com/preview/221414

Maybe that will help.

Thanks for the help. I tried it and it did not work, though.
