Buried inside the article:
"Cost of revenue declined faster than revenue reflecting both the company's restructuring efforts and the expanded use of speech recognition technology. "At this point, we have over 40% of our volumes running through DocQspeech on our DocQment Enterprise Platform (DEP). We believe this important tool will help us continue to improve our margins over time," said Hoffmann."

My opinion as a 12-year MQ MT (2 years so far in SR) is that they had better keep their experienced MTs on board in order to train the doggone SR. My experience is it is getting worse instead of better at "translating" dictation.

As long as those experienced MTs remain happy to train the SR at line rates that keep that cost of revenue declining, I'm sure they'll be happy to do so.
They don't care if SR actually works well at translating. It doesn't have to actually work now that they've used it to redefine the wage structure of the industry.

Tinky Link? I've used "tiny url" and I notice there is also a "tiny link" (created by someone with terrible English skills), but I have never heard of tinky link. I like it. It made me laugh. I think I'll try it.

Ouch! I wish you weren't right, but I think you are. In my case, I was grandfathered at a high enough rate that even the 30% cut is more than most companies will offer me.
I have been reading the threads here about MT going down the tubes and how many of us MTs just grin and bear it. I honestly don't know what else we can do.

Oh, I simply had to come out of lurk mode to make a comment on this one!
Well said ... VERY WELL SAID.

Thank you! The TinkyLink.com domain name was a product of my own fevered imagination; the concept, of course, has been around for quite a while. Hope it works well for you.

Tonks is right. If they really want to speed up the process to increase revenue while insisting on using ASR, then let's at least give up the fiction that the program learns from anything a transcriptionist does. If it did, I wouldn't still be changing </INDICATIONS/> to "end of dictation" and placing a redundant marker over it (all for free, of course) at the bottom of almost every report every day now 3-4 years into this experiment. Just give me the file, let me hit delete for anything that's wrong, type what it should be and send.

Not all SRT systems are created equal in this respect. However, from what I hear from users of various systems, all of them reach a point of diminishing returns where the accuracy never gets any better.
