Help me remember an old TV show please

This is a childhood memory I can't shake. I don't know if it was the Twilight Zone or what. My brother thinks maybe it was The Outer Limits. It was an episode from the late 60's or early 70's and this guy goes into the bathroom and there is a little spider in the sink. He washes it down the drain and leaves. He comes back later and there is a bigger spider this time. Again he washes it down the drain and leaves. Each time he comes back the spider is bigger until finally it is huge and you see him cowering behind the door. The other day I was going to take a shower and there was a spider (shudder) in the tub. I called (read yelled) for my husband and then about had a cow when he proceeded to wash it down the drain. He then goes "Oh, it popped back out". Yeah, right like I'm really taking a shower now. He put the plug in and told me just to let the water fill up. Later I overheard my daughter make some comment that she wondered if I thought about that show at that moment. I would love to see if I can find it on Youtube for her as when I am able to do this she laughs about understanding why I am so weird, especially after showing her Rod Hull and Emu. Thanks.

Inyrii, I found some stuff by simple google: spider drain "outer limits". The first hit indicated it might be a Night Gallery episode.
That led me to change the specific phrase to "night gallery" and that returned, first hit, your episode.

I had not tried all the combinations. Truth be told, I really don't want to see the stupid thing again. It is bad enough remembering it with a 4 year olds mind, don't want to refresh it, I'm neurotic enough. Thanks. I will pull it up and let my daughter watch it.
On second thought I won't. She looked at me like I was insane, "Heck no I don't want to see it" and "Why are you clicking on it"? I am going to forward the address to my sister though as we were discussing it last weekend when our brother was here.

Yes, it was Night Gallery with Rod Serling (one of my favorite shows) and I remember that episode as well. For years I was afraid to kill spiders because I knew they would come back to get me, only much bigger. Do you remember the episode with the picture on the staircase wall that keeps changing? How about the one with the woman whose shadow stays on the wall and haunts the family after she dies?

I remember the one with the changing picture! Roddy MacDowell was in it. Great episode. My favorite TZ was the one where the old lady keeps getting strange phone calls -- all the voice says is "Helloooo ..." Later she finds out that her phone service had been out and the line had fallen across the grave of her dead fiance. I get chills just thinking about it.

My favorite TZ episode was the one where the woman has surgery because she thinks she's ugly and just wants to look "normal" like everyone else.
If you've seen it, you'll know what I mean.

My favorite Twilight Zone episode involved translating an alien book. The title (both the book and the episode) was "To Serve Man." Guess what kind of book?

Recipe book!! They made reference to that on the animated movie "Madagascar." I thought it was hilarious. Little lemurs jumping around with a book yelling "It's a cookbook!" My kids didn't get it though.
Speaking of kids and what we used to watch...My 9-year-old and I were enjoying some "vintage" (when I was a kid) episodes of Bugs Bunny. About halfway through, he turns to me and asks if people used to think that stuff was funny. Then he asked me why Bugs was drinking and smoking and gambling. I turned it off after that. (How embarrassing!)

To give credit where credit is due, that episode was an adaptation of a short story of the same title written by Damon Knight.

I'm glad to know I am not the only person weirded about that stupid show. Why my parents let me watch it when I was so little beats the heck out of me. I do remember the Donna Douglas one. The only other one I remember had Burgess Meredith in it. All he wanted to do was be left alone to read and he finally got his wish after everybody else in the world was destroyed but his glasses broke so he still couldn't read. Of course I did not see them as new episodes, just in reruns and I certainly don't watch them now.

Another show that I can't believe my mother let me watch was Love American Style on Friday nights. Marcus Welby, M.D. was another I liked to watch. Goodness, my age is showing!

Moaab, you're not the only one who remembers those! Since you're in the area for it, do you ever watch ME-TV (channels 23 and 48 if you don't have cable/satellite)? It's all old shows like Hawaii Five-O, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Fugitive, The Untouchables, Perry Mason, Lucille Ball, Quincy ME, Star Trek, etc. On Saturday night, everything is in black and white. A lot of what they run is better than the new stuff, not that I get to see much of any of it!

Thanks Glory! I'll have to try ME-TV. I've seen the billboards on I-90, but I've never watched. I would imagine that most of those shows are better than what's on today. There's very little of the current shows that I watch.

When I was a kid on Friday night they used to have The Twilight Zone and the Alfred Hitchcock Hour on back to back. I insisted on watching both, and would be so scared by the time they were over that I would freeze up, and my parents would have to literally physically nudge me down the hall to my bedroom. Yet next Friday night I was raring to go at it again!!
The one that sticks in my mind forever was the How To Serve Man episode, and there was another one on TZ where this man ended up with these huge, huge eyeballs. They called him Mr. Fowler. Does this one ring a bell to anyone? Oh, and then there was another episode where they took this wand, ran it over this guy's body and the wand pulvarized his bones...Yikes.
Time for a work break, and a dish of red, white and booberry ice cream...)))

Whorn, wasn't the big eyeball guy on Outer Limits? I remember a guy taking off goggles and having huge eyes on that show. That's the only thing I remember except that that was the reason I wouldn't watch that show anymore. Scared the living daylights out of me! Tried watching it just once more when I was in college and my roommate had gone home for the weekend. Still scared me!
Since you watched Alfred Hitchcock, do you know the name of the episode where a woman killed her husband with a frozen leg of lamb and then cooked it up and served it to the detective on the case? My mom and grandma talked about that all the time, but I've never seen it and would like to.
Inyrii, you reminded me of another Twilight Zone episode I love - the one with Burgess Meredith. I always related to him in that episode. Mom was forever telling me to get my nose out of a book and to go out and play.

I liked the Burgess Meredith one too. Like you, I was ALWAYS reading (still am when I'm not typing) and I definitely related to his character.

Oh, yes. "Time Enough At Last." That one actually made me cry when I saw it for the first time.

Here is a list of Night Gallery episodes. The very first one listed is "The Cemetery" with Roddy McDowell (which is my favorite). I'll can almost hear him say "Portifoy" in that British/Southern accent. (Remember the painting on the wall kept changing?)
http://www.tv.com/night-gallery/show/1013/episode_guide.html
If I remember my TV trivia correctly, the second episode listed, "Eyes" starring Joan Crawford, (loved that one too) was Steven Spielberg's first shot at directing.
