All I can say is: If Jason is still here tomorrow night at this time, I may have to slit my throat.

He does, however, have lovely teeth.

Apparently he's told Entertainment Weekly that he wouldn't mind going home, and he's been skipping rehearsals, vocal coaching sessions, etc. Too bad for him; so many people have been supporting him, I think he owes it to them to continue to try his hardest, and he seems to have given up.

That said: Good riddance. When he flubbed the lyrics, I practically danced across the room. If that doesn't do it, I don't know what will.

I wondered if he did that on purpose. Maybe he really wants to go home? Regardless, the guy really shouldn't be there attempting "The Bobs".

There's been no doubt for me from early on that this will be a battle of The Davids.

At 4:15 on the youtube video below (post-performance for I Shot the Sheriff), as Ryan is giving the voting info, it looks like Jason is mouthing *don't vote.* I've watched it over and over and I hope he's saying *vote vote,* but I don't know.

It does kinda look like he's mouthing "don't vote," but the student body and alumni from Texas A&M (where Jason is a student) aren't likely to grant him his request. I'm an alum of Texas A&M, and there have been several "get out the vote for Jason" plugs in various media outlets.

It doesn't look good for him IMO, though.

I am very much a Jason fan, but I was terribly disappointed in him last night and my first impression is that he has gotten lazy and isn't putting forth any effort. I kind of got that inkling last week. He might not be cut out for the pressure involved in being an Idol. I think he'd be happy singing at a beach luau \:D

I'm seeing dollar signs around little David. I'll be surprised if he doesn't walk away with it.

Wow, it sure does look like he's mouthing "Don't vote" and I didn't even notice that while watching! It does seem like he wants to go. I have a feeling that after last night, the Vote for the Worst website will be calling for Jason, so he might not get his wish if he wants to go home!

Meri, sorry in advance - if he's not a stoner, he sure tried to look like one last night with that Bob Marley shout out. Surprised he didn't just bring a bong on stage with him.

That could've been a ploy, too, since he even laughed while saying it. I like Jason, too, but the whole thing was just strange!

I'm predicting a shocker a la Daughtry and LaToya (didn't they go out around 4th place?)

I believe you are correct, Lib, and I hope you are wrong, wrong, wrong! LOL! As much as I say I really have lost interest this season (saw Michael Johns on Ellen yesterday, which only confirmed my feelings for the past few weeks since his departure!), I hate whatever integrity is left in this show to really be going down the crapper the way it seems to be going this season. I have heard that the ratings are the lowest they've been since season 3 (Fantasia anyone?). No surprise there. I cannot stand Jason - never could - and really can't stand him now after last night!

I think he did it on purpose. That's not the same kid that started this show. He seems just "real" enough to be hating where he's at right now. He knows why he's still there and it doesn't have anything to do with singing talent. He should have been gone way before now. It's got to be embarrassing for him to be taking the place of the others who deserve it. He looked downright happy with his performances last night. And I still don't think he's a stoner - LOL! He seems like the kind of guy that would not like the kind of teeny-bopper attention he is getting. I am going to feel horrible for him if he is voted in tonight. I think if that happens I won't be surprised if we see someone give it up on AI for the first time - if he has the balls. And for the record, I like him but I have never thought he should win. I have always thought he had a very good chance of winning but only because of how the votes are set up and because of his huge following of little girls.

Did anyone else get the horrible sound quality on David C's first song? All I could hear was his voice, really loud without any kind of band or back-up singers at all. It was horrible.

I know why you like him, Meri. I like him for the same reasons, and I think that's the only reason he has made it this far. Personally, I'd rather walk away than end up on the VFTW site, and maybe that's Jason's stance, too.

RE: Cook's first song, YES, and the reviewer in an article I read this morning said the same thing. I've actually noticed a lot of that this year, only usually the band drowns out the vocals. I think they need to fire the sound guy.

Annie, I read that yes, Daughtry and Latoya did finish 4th, and Tamyra and Lakisha, too! Hmmm, I see a pattern here.

Yes, a lot of times the band drowns out the singer, but this was ridiculous last night with David.

I think Jason's worst nightmare right now is if he actually wins this thing.

ACK! Meri, bite your tongue! He needs to go home tonight (and yes, he does have nice teeth!). The two Davids need to duke it out in the final 2; here's hoping both pull through! \:\)

I'm with Margie. I had just read the Entertainment Weekly article and he doesn't even deserve to be where he's at, IMO. They said his meeting with Neil Diamond was embarrassing because he didn't know his songs well enough to even sing them for a critique. I don't care how cute he is, I'm tired of the dumb-ass smiling idiot thing he's got going (I wish I could say it's an act, but somehow I don't think it is).

I'm liking Syesha more and more but I agree - it's probably going to be the David's duking it out for the finale.

Did you hear him answer the toughest obstacle question with something like "lack of a brain"? You got that right, dude!

Yep, brain-dead pretty much describes him to a T. Where's that "woo-hoo" icon?

I was almost hoping he'd make it through so he could stand up and decline the honor. That would've been totally cool.

My faith has been restored.

I read that article too, and actually "they" didn't say his meeting with ND was embarrassing, *he* said it himself. So I think he'd be the first to admit he wasn't giving it his all.

That said, reading that article only reinforced my dislike of Syesha. She really needs to get over herself. I think her tears the other night were staged, and her comments comparing her situation to the civil rights movement - unbelievable. I don't see why she was allowed to stand up there & blather on & on, a-weepin' and a-wailin'. Not even Brooke cried this much!

The article did make me feel more sympathetic towards DA, though. His dad sounds like an absolute jerk & I hope DA doesn't win because I don't want his dad to be rewarded.

I'm glad JC left because it's fairly obvious he didn't want to be there anymore. However, I read an on-line piece somewhere that said he was "genius" in the rehearsal that day (written by someone in attendance), but for whatever reason that didn't carry over into the performance Tues. night. My only gripe was that I hate the song "I Shot The Sheriff", but I don't think I'd ever heard the BM version, only the EC one, so I had to have that song stuck in my head all night!

Not to mention I think it's better if one doesn't win AI, anyway. DC is probably quaking in his boots that he might actually win & have to sing the AI dreck they force upon the winner.

When Jason commented on his inexperience, I think that's what was difficult for him. The 3 remaining besides him are very seasoned performers (even little David), so it must have been wearing each and every week to put up with the machine that is American Idol -- like the trip to Las Vegas and being grabbed/kissed by the girl. 6 months ago, he was a college student singing at church, so it must be a little weird and uncomfortable at some point if you're heart and soul aren't set on becoming an American Idol. I really wonder if it was more losing heart rather than "laziness."

As for the ratings, all I know is that their 2 shows each week are consistently at the top of the ratings (#1 and #2). It may be they are down from past years, but it's still quite the ratings
giant for ANY network, let alone for Fox.

I didn’t notice until I read my favorite wrap-up of AI, that when Syesha answered the fan's question about being the only girl remaining, and she commented about the Ford commercial that they BLEEPED OUT the word "commercial." Obviously Ford and Fox don’t want those viewed as "commercials." It must be some kind of contractual thing. Do you suppose it has something to do with pay for the contestants? Would SAG require them to be paid since they are basically actors in commercials or ????

My DH just loves Syesha. She is very attractive and talented, but there IS something disingenuous about her that I find off-putting.

I noticed the bleep, too, and couldn't for the life of me figure out what word(s) they had bleeped. I have no idea why "commercial" is considered a "bad" word, and I can't imagine how anyone would define those awful segments as anything other than commercials.

I really like Syesha and don't find her disingenuous at all. That said, I doubt she'll win it all, but she will go on to have a great career, a la Jennifer Hudson, in movies and/or Broadway.
It helped, of course, that "A Change is Gonna Come" is probably at the very top of my list of best.song.ever.

David Archuleta is the "money" winner for the producers of AI, and that's as it should be. David Cook will do a lot better as the runner-up than as the winner, and vice versa. So all is right in the universe, I guess.

Small hijack: If you like R&B/soul music, don't miss the PBS American Masters: Marvin Gaye program that aired last night.

They call it the Ford music video. And yes, my bet would be that it has something to do with SAG. AFAIK, reality show "contestants" aren't actors and don't fall under the purview of SAG. They would, however, most likely have to be members of AFTRA at this point, if they weren't already.
