Since this is an interesting year for elections, who was running the first time ever you could vote for a president?
1980: Ronny Reagan and Jimmy Carter. I was 20 years old and was very excited to finally get to vote. On a sad note, disco was dying.

First campaign button I wore was for Adlai Stevenson--1952. (Here it is 56 years later, and that too intellectual to get the votes crap is still with us. The more things change...) First campaign I canvassed for was John F. Kennedy--1960 (well, okay, I was really out there for my father, who was running for the state legislature). First candidate I actually voted for, and everyone else should have, was George McGovern--1972. (Sure, go ahead and finally pass the 26th amendment after I don't need it anymore. Of course, if I could have voted in 1968, I would have had to write in Eugene McCarthy. Pout.)

First time I was eligible to vote in a presidental election was in 1984. I voted for Ronald Reagan. (Wish there were still candidates like him.) Oddly enough, that was also the year a woman - Geraldine Ferraro - was on the ticket for Democratic vice president. Wonder what she thinks of Hillary?

Sure, go ahead and finally pass the 26th amendment after I don't need it anymore. Ah! No wonder I can't remember who I voted for in 1968 -- I didn't.

Like others in this thread - 1984 - Mondale vs Reagan.
Those of you who know my political slant will probably be shocked to know that I voted for Mondull...um..I mean Mondale.

1984. I missed the 1980 election - I was 17 and couldn't vote. But, I got extra credit in Social Studies campaigning for Reagan in Calif. - this was in Santa Barbara which was truly Reagan Country.

I don't think of myself as a young'n, but I must be in this crowd.
The first election I could have voted in was Clinton vs. Bush, but I don't remember casting a ballot. I know I voted in the Clinton vs. Dole election in 1996.
