Does anyone know of a foot pedal that works with Emdat without having to use Express Scribe? By one that works, I mean one that you don't have to "TAP" the pedal to make the dictator stop. One that works like a normal foot pedal!

When I first started using InScribe, I was told that Emdat did not support a foot pedal (though they did recommend one on their Web site). So, I used the hot keys until I began the M-TEC course about 18 months ago. I used the foot pedal that came with the course (pretty basic model; the bottom says "Infinity IN-USB-1"). At that time I had to use Express Scribe. Boy, that was fun. But since Emdat put out a new version of InScribe a couple months ago, I've been able to use the foot pedal directly with the platform under the option "Built-in player InScribe" under Options (on the screen where you log in). It's a little more "touchy," meaning not as responsive as with Express Scribe and a bit more difficult to get right to the point I want to get to in the dictation, but it beats the hot keys and Express Scribe!

You might be able to find one that works at a price suited to you, but here is a link to the pedal I have: FOOT PEDAL . My mother contracts with the same company and so uses InScribe too. I can find out what pedal she uses (same one she used previously when she had her own accounts). If you want me to find out, PM me and remind me to ask her.

The Start-Stop pedal will work with Emdat. I have trouble with it sometimes not downloading the voice file (it has blanks in the file which are obvious), but you can quickly exit the window and restart the pedal program and then it works okay.

I have a Bytescribe pedal that I have never had a problem with. Do not need express scribe either.
