A psychologist has asked me to help her out because her previous MT just is not returning work.

I already have two accounts that keep my plenty busy but she was ok with a 2 week turnaround, so I am helping her.

BUT, i am wondering, how to figure line count when the template she provides is pretty lenthy. I have to fill in sections. Sometimes one line, sometimes a large paragraph.

My question is so you include the lines of the template or not?? Normally i do, but since this is so large I am thinking not.

Any ideas?

Kim

This has been asked, and opinions given, many times.

Only you can decide what you are going to charge a new account, whether it includes templates or not, and the size of the template, to me, is irrelevant.

When using templates, you have to figure the time spent in making the template, maintaining the template, modifying the template, calling up the template, and so forth. You also have to factor in whether or not you think the provider will pay for the whole template or not.

If she has not said anything about not paying for the template, make your offer counting it and negotiate downwards if necessary. This is a lot easier than offering the contract price without the template and learning later that the provider frequently strays from the template or makes changes to the general template over time.

JMO, and you will probably get many different opinions.
