Good morning, I don't post often, but come and read the wonderful posts and great advice posted here.
I've been a MT for about 12 years now. I was very confident when I first ventured into this field that I could do it. Have had 20 years as a paralegal dealing with numerous medical cases and doing reviews of medical records.
I could not have been more wrong! I was lucky enuf to find someone, in fact she posts on this board often - so good morning Julie and thanks for all you have done for me LOL - as my mentor.
For those newbies visiting these boards, let me tell you, MT is the hardest thing I have ever learned in my life. It is not a walk in the park no matter what your background in.
Over the years, I have mentored others. Some have gone on to be MTs and some have gone back to their "day job".
I recently took on a new mentee who is currently attending also MT training school.
Having done mentoring now for the last about 7 years, I know what I expect/require from a mentee. But here are my questions:
As a mentor what do you provide to your mentee?
As a mentor what do you expect/require from your mentee?
I'm hoping to maybe get some insight as to some problems I am having with my current mentee and hopefully will see some great answers here and then will be back to explain exactly what those problems are.
Thank you in advance for any and all comments, Karen
