A sad thing I've noticed while typing for my internist is that there are so many people - mostly elderly - who aren't taking the meds they should be due to cost.
It is sad that people of any age have to choose between medication and food (or even that some of them have to take a medication that doesn't work as well because of arbitrary insurance rules). OTOH, as one of my doctor friends who agrees with me on how overmedicated so many of the elderly are these days, for some of them the fact they can't afford everything prescribed may be the good news. It depends on what medications it is that they aren't affording.
