Well, I'm officially disgusted. How much longer will this continue? Brooke and Jason just HAVE to go!!!!!!!!!!!

That said, I wasn't all that impressed with Carly's rendition of Superstar. She left all the big-money high notes to the backup vocalists, and I thought she was just too over-amped for much of her performance.

I do think she departed in a classy manner, though -- and she probably will have a good career ahead of her, one she wouldn't have had without AI.

Can I have a hallelujah for David Cook? That man is awesome! I had chills listening to him sing. I really hope he takes it all, or at least comes in second (which in some cases might even be better than winning).

Did y'all catch Jason yawning? What a dweeb. The guy just comes across as a rather dim bulb, and it really aggravates me that all the sweet young things are dialing their fingers to the nubs for him.

OK, talk amongst yourselves now.

I caught that too! Good grief. I have to say - at this point - I'm feeling like this is the worst season since season 3 with Fantasia winning. I don't recall caring so little about the whole thing since that season. I don't care if I miss it - don't care who stays/goes - don't care. Still watching - but I don't care.

All that said - yes indeed - David Cook probably is the only thing that makes me keep watching at all! Love him and I'm seeing a Daughtry-like future for him!

I wish Carly would not see herself as the rocker she is trying so hard to be. I don't think her voice is cut out for it. She has a beautiful voice but not when she tries to cut loose like that. But she sure as heck didn't deserve to go home. Brooke did. I still don't understand why she is still there. A big part of me thinks her little start/stop stunt was a very well-planned move to gain votes. As far as her voice - why is she still there? She is absolutely nothing special whatsoever.

I still think Jason is going to end up one of the final two if not the final one. Teenyboppers - gotta love 'em.

I'm with you on this one. I only watch the last five minutes to see who gets kicked off. This is the worst group since Idol has been on TV, IMHO. I can't watch any of them sing, but I do agree that David Cook is the best they have. Brooke and Jason - . I can't wait to see the season end. \:\)

Dim bulb is being a tad generous, Margie. My favorite line of the night came when ALW got through explaining to Jason that in Cats (big clue there, Jason), "Memories" is sung by a very ancient glamour puss. Jason later remarks, "I didn't know a cat was singing it".

I felt sorry for Syesha because she gave the best overall performance of the night and just didn't deserve to be at the bottom of the heap again. Unfortunately, I think she'll be the next to go, then Little Miss Poutyface, then Jason, leaving the two Davids to duke it out.

Next week is Neil Diamond night. Oy, where do they come up with these musical icons? On the bright side, maybe Jason will do a really dopey-ass version of Cracklin' Rosie on his ukulele and we'll see the last of him.

I wonder if David Cook will do He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother?
Meri, you'll need a crate o' Kleenex, girl!

LOL--I've found myself hardly watching this season, myself. I think I blame the judges for most of it because they chose to put through the people they did. Country singers don't belong in a pop competition. Weird people will inspire the wrong kind of voting based on popularity, not singing ability or the likelihood the winner will make it in the business. (Yes, I think I'm still wincing from The Season of Sangina. . .) Of course, none of this improves my opinion of people in general, either, if they think it's cool to vote against Simon's opinion or because some ditz forgot her lyrics (which--ahem--would've been the end of her in the early rounds, so why the pass here?)

I do have to say that AWL was an interesting week, unlike most of the themes (Neil Diamond? Ugh!) although Broadway tunes have never been my fave. I did catch this week for some reason, and agree David Cook knocked that one out of the park. I almost forgot about Gerard Butler there.

Just an FYI.

Quote:
He Ain't Heavy was composed by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. The pair had been introduced to each other by Johnny Mercer at a California nightclub. Despite the fact that Russell was dying of colon cancer and that the pair met in person only three times, they managed to turn out He Ain't Heavy.

Here is a list of Neil Diamond hits. He wrote some big hits for others, including the Monkees.

Thanks for the FYI, Dabble. Didn't Neil Diamond have a run with He Ain't Heavy at one time? I swear I can hear him in my head.

This whole season has been just boring. You already know who is going to leave, because they are all going in the order of which they were at the bottom 3, next week Syesha, then Brook, then hopefully Tiny Tim aka Jason. The 2 Davids will be left to battle it out, and I hope David Cook wins. He has more stage presence and is more of an entertainer. The other David has an excellent voice, but he is so goofy, and he sings out his nose a lot too. Syesha is trying the hardest, but does not seem to get a lot of votes. I really hope she is a success after all of this is over, because she has had such a rough life, and is so pretty and poise. She seems like a sweet girl.

The Hollies had a big hit with it, and it has sort of become the Osmonds theme song. I did find some video of N.D. singing it and here it is.

I predict that David Archuleta will sing "Sweet Caroline" (actually one of my favorite Neil Diamond songs) and will do a perfectly lovely, predictable, boring version of it. And he'll stick around until the finale, with Cook as his competition. And Cook will win it all.

One can hope, right? \:\)

Yikes!

Running down your list of ND songs (the familiar ones), I have a hard time matching them up to the remaining contestants. David C, I hope, will do a complete rearrangement of whatever he picks -- he's been very successful doing that. David A should have an easy time of it, too.

Everything that David Cook has done has already been done by others. None of his arrangements are original. He essentially has done covers of covers, and I am positive he will do that again this coming week.

I know, Elgee! I will definitely have the Kleenex handy!

Hey, guys, Jason was off-stage when he was yawning, for Pete's sake. Not like he was doing it out on stage!

I predict he is going to get real close to winning, if not win the whole darn thing.

Awww, I guess I am in the minority here. I actually rather like Brooke & Jason, and I hope to see Syesha going home next. And if I had my druthers, DA would be gone after that.

You have to face it - this is, & always has been, a popularity contest, not a talent contest. If I was a 13-yr-old girl I'd probably be voting for JC or DA, depending on who I was gaga over.

I don't "get" the criticisms I see laid at JC's feet about his "attitude" or whatever. He's just a young kid who probably never in a million years dreamed he'd be where he is now, so I'm willing to cut him some slack.

I've never seen an ALW show so while I do know "Memories" is from "Cats", I had no idea what Brooke's song was supposed to be about. I'm not sure I'd ever heard it before either. So I'm not surprised that she didn't know what it was about. Not everyone knows every single song ever recorded, or least I highly doubt it. I didn't know the songs sung by DA or SM at all.

Frankly, what is the deal with these stupid theme nights anyway? I liked ALW & really appreciated his honesty; he was refreshing. But as one of the judges said (Randy?), these aren't pop songs & aren't what these folks are used to performing.....so WTF are they making them sing these songs for? It's ridiculous. It's like on Project Runway when they make them come up with a designer outfit in 2 days out of trash or some such nonsense. When was the last time Michael Kors had to do that?! But I digress...

Basically, I "judge" by which people would I care to hear sing again & which ones I can do without. Carly, SM, & DA fall into the latter category. And while I don't think Jason or Brooke will win, I do like to listen to them & look forward to what they will come up with each week.

Plus, someone I know has JC in their work pool, so I have to root for him at least a little! :-)

It has something to do with the artists releasing a new project, doesn't it? Did ALW say anything about a new show? I know Dolly Parton has a new CD. Does Mariah Carey?

I agree, though, that these theme nights are ridiculous.

Nor are they what they would perform if they got a recording contract. When did you last hear Kelly Clarkson sing a country song? When will she be on Broadway? Never!

I totally agree with disliking the theme weeks...especially the ones they've picked this season, BUT...

REBA McENTIRE and KELLY CLARKSON are teaming up for a joint tour of the Midwest in 2008, the chart-toppers announced today. Their "2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour" will kick off on January 17 in Dayton, OH, and wrap up a month later on February 16 in Kansas City, MO. Tickets for the Morgantown, WV, show go on sale first on November 30, with the remaining ticket sales rolling out December 1, 8, and 15.

Country music fan Kelly has long said she grew up idolizing Reba and the two have become fast friends, performing a duet of Kelly's "Because of You" together on various award shows over the past year. The original "Idol" even guest-starred on her sitcom "Reba." Promoters say that on the "2 Worlds" tour both singers will perform their own hits as well as sing more duets.

Actually, I really like Jason. He is goofy, but he seems like a heck of a nice guy and real to boot. Actually, everyone seems real this year.

I don't care for Brooke too much, I have to admit. Voice-wise or personality-wise. Too goody-two-shoes for me. And although I agree that David A. is a talented kid, he creeps me out. And his voice is boring after a couple sons. He doesn't know how to change it up. He's like a little robot, poor thing.

Yes. E=MC2. Sorry, not an MC fan. I haven't heard if Neil Diamond has one coming out, but I wouldn't be surprised.
