Hi All! I've been using a Lanier microcassette machine for years now, and I absolutely love the sound quality. There's no white noise in the background--it's crystal clear. The problem is, I've gone through 3 of them, so they aren't the sturdiest. It's always the same issue....a problem with the motor.

Laniers are hard to find at a decent price, so I'm wondering, does anyone have any recommendations for a really good machine I could try instead? Superb sound quality is an absolute must in my opinion, and it would be nice if it lasted for a while!

Thanks for any suggestions,
Lori

I've had a Panasonic for about 5 years now. Works pretty well. Never have had problems with it. Bought it at Staples.

Thanks for the suggestion, BlankKeys. What model is it? So, it has nice clear sound quality? I forgot to mention another thing that I really hate in transcribers....that "clunky" feel that some of their foot pedals have, where they click quite loudly every time you step on them. I like how quiet my Lanier is. So how 'bout your Panasonic....is it a quiet operating machine?

Model # is RR-930. Never thought about the noise factor. It probably is louder than your Lanier but possibly your old foot pedal would work with it. The sound quality is good though, I've never had issues with that at all and the unit has had pretty much daily use since I bought it about 5 years ago.
