Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Healthy Living forum, but I figured it'd get more views here.
Does anyone here have rheumatoid arthritis or lupus? and would you mind sharing your experiece, esp. symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment? If you prefer, feel free to PM me.

I don't have it but have a dear friend who developed rheumatoid in her ankles and elbows 2 years ago at 55. She tried avoiding the nightshade family, but that did not work. She kinda hates doctors. Anyway I recommended she try one of my clients. He and his wife are physical therapists. They did myofascial release on her and though she said it "hurt like hell" she has full movement of her ankles and elbows again. She also found a rheumatologist she likes and so now gives herself a shot once every two weeks. It is not methotrexate. With the above treatment she is now back to her tap dancing and yoga and very long walks, all of which she had to give up for a while before the treatment worked. I can ask her what her shot is if you want me to. She now only has to do PT once a month for maintenance.

Thanks for the response and information, Bellatrix. Actually, I've not been diagnosed. I was wondering what others who have been diagnosed have been through to see if I relate to their symptoms and experiences. Then I'll go to my doctor. Well, I'm going to see him anyway, but I don't want to raise the issue if it's not a possible diagnosis. The symptoms I have are vague and could be explained by other things, but still I wonder . . .
Thanks again!

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 5 at University of Michigan. I took many, many baby aspirin and lots of steroids. It really does not affect me anymore, but through the years I attribute a lot of my recovery to swimming, salt water and warm weather in Florida. I know that sounds crazy, but I am 40 now and really have no problems with it, except on rainy days.

That's it, I'm moving to Florida! LOL. Thanks, Truetran. If I get a diagnosis, I'll look into spa therapy (with sea salt water treatment). They are very big on that here. I prefer to stay off steroids; I took prednisone twice for the infections I had earlier this year, and it made me balloon up.
I'm glad you are now having no problems with it!

Glad to be of help. Good choice to stay off steroids, as later in life at age 20, I had a pituitary tumor which secreted too much cortisol, which in retrospect may have been from all the steroids at a younger age (in my opinion anyway).
Good Luck!!!!
