Yes, yes, yes, I did it! First off, for those of you who say "it won't do you any good", but you haven't even tried for yours---save it---your opinion means nothing.
For those of you who say, "I have mine and I have gone nowhere", you've got the wrong attitude and the wrong reason for doing it.
For those of you who say, "I've got mine and it has helped me tremendously---I am more employable, and I would do it again", right on, sister!
After taking that test, there is no way mediocre transcriptionists can pass it---it is well worth the study and late nights and learning what we are actually typing. This will be invaluable in my work, my striving to be the best I can be.
I am a CMT! (does a happy dance)!!!

Congratulations on your success! With your great attitude you will go far with your endeavors!
I attended a local AAMT (? new initials?) symposium yesterday, and almost everybody there was a CMT. I spoke to them, QA people, editors, and even an M-TEC instructor (super sharp lady!), and CMT is really the only way to go. The MTs that I spoke with all touted greater pay incentives, bonuses, etc., because of their CMT status. These people were really very, very sharp, and there was nothing even remotely mediocre about them!
Long sigh...I am but a mere student now, but as soon as I am eligible, I will pass the RMT credentialing test. I will do the same thing when I become eligible to test for the CMT credential.
I am so proud of you, and you inspire me greatly. I wish you much success with your new credential! WAY TO GO! Again, congratulations on your very important CMT credential!
(I'm dancing right along with you!)

Congratulations pineyrose! Felt good to read your post.
Regarding AHDI, I've rarely read anything positive about them on the boards over the last several years. But then, what is an average MT's association with AHDI? I guess it would have to be the BOS, and despite the reservations anybody might have about it, that manual at least gives structure to documents. The people who wrote it definitely knew their stuff.
Over the last few years implementing new clients, I've realized that even if their HIM departments do not know what animal the BOS is, if you can condense it for them and frame rules based on it, they appreciate the structure they know will result in their documents. This achievement with the BOS alone is good enough for me to have a high regard for AHDI without bothering to know the history that any poster may have had with it.
I told my boss the CMT is the biggest professional accomplishment of my entire life and it makes me happy that everybody else who has the credentials uses it with the same pride that I do.

I passed the CMT exam on Dec. 21st. It was a great surprise too. I'm glad I took the time to study like I did. I know that was a big help. It's worth it.
