Yes. I know of two hospitals in my area that use agency coders. AFAIK, at this time they still send the coders on site to the hospital, the way that transcription services did in the days before remote transcription evolved. But yes, IMO, coding will go the way of transcription -- being paid per unit, working off site, tying benefits to production, etc, etc.
