Does anyone have this keyboard? I had been wanting it from when I first saw it on Microsoft's site for a while and it was on sale at a Amazon so I just ordered it. But after I had already placed the order I was looking at some of the pictures a bit mroe closely. They are not very close up, but I can't see function keys. I obviously use my F11 key all the time for jumping to fields, so this would be a problem. Are they actually there and the picture just does not show them?

I don't have the keyboard, but I was looking around for a larger picture of it. Check this out:

Microsoft 7000

And then click on "larger image." It looks like the function keys must be those little buttons at the top, the gray ones.

Click here and then put your mouse over the second little tiny thumbprint photo under the photo of the keyboard. Yep, the little gray "buttons" are the function keys. Kinda small. Don't think I'd like that.

Yeah - that was the picture I clicked on AFTER I ordered it. They are so small I couldn't see them. Ugh. Granted, I have it so F9, F10, F11 and F12 all jump for me, maybe it won't be as bad as I think. I guess only time will tell.

Please update on what you think. I am thinking about a new keyboard instead of this standard one that I use. I am interested to know if the top can be raised higher.

I sure will give you an update. I just don't know how much of a chance I will give it. I may take it out of the box to test how it feels without hooking it up to see if I think I can live with teeny tiny function keys. If not, I will probably be sending it back. I will let you know, though, either way.

Thanks. I'm not a big function key user, but I liked the look of the keyboard.

Well I got the keyboard. I was correct in that there are no function "keys" on it. I don't know HOW it works, but touching the area where the function keys would be makes it work. Must be a super sensitive membrane under there or something. There is a littled raised area in the plastic where you are supposed to touch.

That said, there is another issue with it. I detest the position of the home and end "keys." They are also this no key type area at the far top right of the keyboard. That is not going to be easy for me to get used to, especially since I go back and forth between that and another setup. On top of that, my sub uses the number keypad, which this does not have. I almost never use it, so did not even realize it. That may have been $100 very ill spent.

I don't think that would be the keyboard for me either. I use the numbers off to the right all the time. I didn't even realize that when I looked at the pic. The one thing I never learned in typing class was to do the numbers above and then computers came about and I never learned them and and always used the numbers to the right on the keyboard.

Very disappointing.

Truetran, you really should try to practice with the numbers. I can't imagine having to take my hand off the keys to move over to the keypad. It would slow me down SO MUCH. I think once you are comfortable with it, your productivity would have to increase.

I think for my own personal purposes the keyboard is really neat. I think for work purposes, though, it is just too funky.

I have one and it does take some getting used to. The function keys are very sensitive and not at all where I expect them to be so it's taken some time to retrain myself and I sometimes still have to look. I also have to make sure my fingers are on the home keys because I'm not used to the curve or the smaller keyboard.

I don't use any of the special keys but I have used the keyboard touchpad and "mouse" keys. Pretty cool to have them there instead of having to reach for the mouse! But that takes some getting used to as well - I find I still reach for the mouse instead.
