This question has probably been answered before on this forum, so I apologize in advance for the repeat. I recently purchased a laptop to work on while I am away from home (I recently started MT work full time after having my second child, and I am going crazy being in the house all of the time). I am figuring things out one step at a time. I have my email all set up to send encrypted messages, etc. I figured out how to tether my laptop through my BlackJack to get an internet connection when I am away from a wired connection. My question now is security. I know the high security risk of using a WiFi hotspot, which I don't intend to do. I just need to know the steps to be taken to ensure security on my laptop so my information cannot be accessed and other people cannot use my connection. Also, if using a highspeed connection from a hotel room, is there a security risk if it is a wired connection?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
