I am in the Seabrook/Houston area. Is there anyone is this area thinking of starting their own MT business?

Misty, I'm in Seabrook as well -- what a small world! I usually post as being just outside Houston, as that's someplace most people will recognize.
I'm not planning on working as an IC any time in the near future(BTDT, really didn't enjoy it), but I'm delighted to find another MT nearby!

I think you are the first MT I have found near me! Most from Houston seem to be on the west side, which is still an hour or more away. Do you work from home? I have worked from home for about 4 years. Sometimes I think I would like to find a job in-house or maybe find my own doctors. I just don't know where to begin with getting my own doctors so was wondering if there was anyone else in the Houston area thinking of doing the same.

I've worked from home for 11 years, but I've only lived in this area for about half of that. I was an IC for a while before I moved here, but I kind of "inherited" my beginning account when the doc I'd worked for in-house for years retired. His recommendation won a major account for me, and then word of mouth from that account brought others. So, as far as breaking into the IC arena, I'm not much help.
It's great to know I'm not the only MT in this area! (Well, okay, my mom also lives in Seabrook, and she's a recently retired MT.) Maybe we could get together at T-Bone Tom's or something some evening!

Yes, it is nice to know I am not the only MT in the area. I have only lived in this area for the past 3 years. I have actually never been to T-Bone Tom's, but we should go sometime.

ahvasquez and Misty,
Another Clear Laker here. You'll love T-Bone Tom's if you haven't already been. I'm not an MT yet but I'm finally getting started. The "urge" hit me about 7 years ago but somehow I landed in legal instead. So now I feel it's time to start this puppy. I can do legal transcription in my sleep (and sometimes I have fallen asleep while listen to people drone on and on).
Hopefully I'll get to know other Clear Lakers here and get some needed encouragement in my own backyard.

How funny! I was at T-bone Toms Saturday night! We are big Parrotheads and went to listen to a band play on the back porch. LOVED it! It's quite a drive for us coming from Katy, but we camped out on the beach so we wouldn't have to drive back that night.

T-Bone Tom's is just the other side of the bridge from me, about a mile away! That's one of our favorite hangouts, although we haven't been over there a whole lot lately. Maybe we could all get together sometime.
shipaddict, where did you go to camp on the beach? I hate how much the water access is restricted around here!!

I just head straight up FM 518 and run right into T-Bone Tom's. The last time we went there was...hmmm...and before that was mid-December for three family birthdays. Yes, it could be fun to have a meet-up.

we camped on Crystal Beach. Drove thru Galveston then across on the ferry. It was pretty late by the time we got there!
A meet-up would be fun, but it's such a long drive for us! I do see my band is coming back to T-Bone's Aug 9 -- maybe we could all meet up then. Y'all got hawaiian shirts??

Terri, you must be somewhere out League City way? That's just a hop, skip, and a jump!
shipaddict: Hawaiian shirts--no problem! August 9 would be good, if you're back this way. That IS a long way. Is I-10 still a nightmare out there? It's been a LOOOONG time since I've been through Katy, mostly for that reason!

WELL, yes, I-10 is still a nightmare -- which is one of the main reasons why I started working from home! I had to commute 30 miles one way for ages and it was terrible. But now we have options -- we can take the Westpark Tollway and stuff like that.
We are putting Aug 9 on our calendar! See ya on the Back Porch!

Technically we have a Houston address. Take a left on Egret Bay towards FM 518 and we're in League City; take a right towards NASA Pkwy - go straight and we're in Webster; turn left and we're in Nassau Bay.
