Hi,
It's nice to read such positive things from most of you and how you really enjoy what you do. It just confirms how excited I am to get started.
I am in the very last stages of MT training and would really appreciate and advice I can get. I am really interested in doing my work from home. First and foremost can someone advise me on what type of transcriber I should get to start?

Hi, Mariag (MariaG?) - your school should be able to provide you with some information on this topic, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying any transcribing equipment right off the bat. Different companies and MTSOs have different systems and compatibility requirements, and you don't want to buy something only to have to get something else when you're hired. Many tests can be taken without a foot pedal, and then you can buy the pedal you need when you're hired.

Welcome to this board. I suggest holding off on the purchase of any transcriber until you know what you will actually need. I purchased one shortly after my MT training just in case I should need it and never did. Every account I've transcribed for has been either online or through Bytescribe and then sent via email. You may find you do not need to buy anything at all.

One word of caution, do be careful of any company who may ask you to pay for equipment, usage of same, etc. in order to work for them. That would quite possibly be a scam. It is a good rule to research any company you consider working for.

Good luck to you.
