I was wondering if its okay for me to be an active part of this group, or if I would get my head bitten off for being Indian.
I have worked as an MT for the past 8 years and continue to be very passionate about my work. I've initially worked in an office setting (and for a pittance) but for the past 6 years have worked as an IC and feel so very proud of my doctors for the care and concern they have for their patients.
Regards, Deepti.

Don't be shy, Deepti, jump right in! We are a bit hard on people with poor language skills, but it doesn't matter where they come from. Some of the worst offenders are home grown!

Welcome to the boards! I can definitely understand the shyness, but we have a few members here (like Agnostic and Jabberwocky) who have managed to keep their heads around us. ;)

Some of the worst offenders are home grown! You know, that's so sad that it shouldn't make me laugh this hard. . .
I think the offshore MTs who aren't readily accepted into the fold here are the ones who seem to have learned English by chatting with 13-year-olds on the internet--but again, I've encountered US MTs (not just on MBs, but at work!) who use that illiterate, abbreviated nonsense and I think that rankles me even more.
Obviously, language skills are becoming scarce everywhere. Since language is THE basis for MT, I think that's more the common denominator here than anything.
