When you hear the critics say that you went to the wrong school remember these words of wisdom: Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them. by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Because no matter where you go to school, learn it,practice it,and you will learn how to transcribe. You will learn english grammar. You will learn the different accents you hear in your dictations. It is easy to get through school,it takes about a year to learn the job of transcription,no matter if it's medical or non medical. So don't get discouraged. Don't let any discouraging words stop you from getting what you want,if you want it bad enough you will get it with hard work and sticking to it.

A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her. by David Brinkley

That simply is not true.

Your quotations are fine, and all of that, but the reality, again and again, is that desire and hard work simply do not equate to achievement.

I really don't relish the idea of spending the weekend babysitting this thread - a topic that as been discussed AD NASEUM here on this forum.

People who wish to become MTs are grown-ups. All we can do here is tell them what our experiences have been throughout the years (ranging anywhere from 1 month to 30 years), and then guess what - they get to make their own choices and they have to live with the consequences of those choices.

It's not our job, IMHO, to coddle and hold the hands of the ones who "discovered" that they made the wrong choice.

Locking this one up - and so help me - if someone starts up this thread again, the entire forum will just go to read only. It's TOO beautiful outside to be babysitting this entire forum for this purpose right now. And yes - I'm the moderator - and I do get the last word. It's one of the few perks I have.
