Anybody know how these professions compare in income? I know there are a lot of variables with MT as in IC, employee, at-home or on-site. What does an entry level coder/biller start at in a hospital? Small office?

It varies from region to region. You'll find some medical transcriptionists who make quite a bit of money, I don't think many coders are going to match those. On the other hand, there is potential for some good jobs in medical coding. They usually are not the work-from-home positions that transcriptionists have avaiable to them, although that may happen someday.

Check the hotlines or web sites of your local hospitals and see if they have job listings there vor CCS or CPC or CCS-P. They may just say medical coders or medical coding specialist.
