Go to start and shut down -- and click on "restart in MS-DOS mode" and restart that way. Once you are at a Windows prompt in DOS -- type in "scanreg/fix" (without the quotation marks) That should fix the problem. Just type exit when it takes you back to the Windows prompt in DOS.

I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. Going anywhere near the Registry generally sends me into a swoon.

Download a program called regclean.exe. Run it and see if that helps.
