I did a search on both of these topics in the archives - and the best answers were from 1999. Any updates? What are your favorites and why? I need an ergonomic keyboard - presently using MS elite, but the touch is a little hard. With all the hours I spend in front of my keyboard, I think I deserve the best (with a good $ level). In 1999 and 2000 people were saying they used PC Concepts - this is no longer being made! So what now? By the end of the day I end up with a headache from the headphones. The "innies" hurt my ears. The ones that fit against the head cause me headaches. I want good sound quality - and light weight. In 1999 Annie said she used the Optimus Pro 35 Titanium from Radio Shack - still true? or is there something better out there? Let's hear from all the experts - US! Thanks.

I still use my PC Concepts keyboard (the MS was too hard of a touch for me as well), and I love it! Someone posted a link not too long ago about where you can still get them. I'll see if I can find it as well. As for headsets, I still struggle with mine. I am getting the Dictaphone Deluxe (by recommendation of one of the SCs that swears by them) and having my DH modify them so they will work both for Dictaphone and PC dictation (standard male plug). If this works, I'll let ya'll know. Speaking of which, if I can convert the Dictaphone headset to do both Dictaphone and standard PC dictation, how many of you would be interested? I'll let you know the results if anyone is curious.

Thanks. I was using the Delux from Dictaphone also - but they are so fragile. I got an adaptor and switched to a "behind the head" headphone, but after a while, I get a headache from having them press against my head. Also I think I would like the ability to "turn up" the headset itself.

Raven, for years I have used simple Walkman type headphones. You can buy all sorts (and prices) at electronics stores and places like WalMart. Some of them have on-cord volume controls.

Well, I started "googling" for keyboards and decided on the SmartBoard (since I couldn't find the PC Concept one anywhere). I'll let you know how I like it when it arrives! I found it for $69.95. Thanks all. [ 06-04-2003: Message edited by: raven ]

I use headphones by Sony that go over the outer ear and fit snugly into the canal. There is no pressure anywhere and they are great for shutting out ambient noise (kids, who are out of school for the summer, God help me and them). Bought them at Best Buy for about $10. Forgot to add that I just ordered these headphones. They are the "in the ear" kind but have silicone plugs and apparently different sizes you can choose. I can't stand the "over the ear" ones or behind the head ones. http://www.efunctional.com/ymdrex70lp.html JG

Is this it? h.ear™ Stereo Headphones by Sony. Heck, they even come in "colors." [ 06-04-2003: Message edited by: raven ]

You know, Ann, I am not sure. I will try to find them at Best Buy.com. Mine are orange and I think they had blue and red to go with the Sony CD players. Let me see what I can find. Mary Yep, that's what they are. Here is the...darn it... lost the link. Be right back... Hear it is. Scroll down about half-way or more and you'll find them. Well, it worked! I will soon have the Deluxe Dictaphone headset with a standard PC plug connector. I'm going to have my DH modify three so far (two for my SC and one for myself). Is anyone else wanting this information?

Straws: If you have time will you describe the Dictaphone Deluxe headset? I use a Dictaphone headset but was wondering about the "Deluxe" model. Thanks!! Pat R.

I bought about a PC Concepts keyboard not long ago. You can still get them directly from PC Concepts, but they are discontinued and I don't know how many they have left. Here's the number 1-800-735-6071. They only have the one with the mouse touchpad on it. I stumbled across a really old one at a little hole in the wall near my house, only to find out that it didn't work. It isn't worth me getting another one from them because to ship it to me (in Canada) would be more than the keyboard itself. By the way, the one that I got was apparently 5 years old and the guy at the above number wondered how I even got it. The above number is for their technical support line, but the guy there is very nice and I am sure he would be more than happy to help anyone out if they are interested. Buy in bulk, because you'll probably be the last to get one. Stacey Sorry for the long post

Straws: Thanks for the answer. After looking at the headsets, I dug in my drawer and found that I had two of the Deluxe models. I remember winning one now at a meeting in Dallas. The older one is the same as the Deluxe model--they just changed the boxes they come in and added Deluxe. The one I currently use is just a little heavier than the Deluxe version. Some day I will straighten my extra equipment drawer and no telling what I will find!! Thanks again. Pat R.

Just thought I would come back and let you know my results! Sony earphones arrived today. No pressure, good sound. My SmartBoard keyboard arrived 2 days after I ordered it. It took me about an hour to get back up to speed on it, but....it didn't work with my "thingy that connects 2 computers to 1 keyboard," so until I get that straightened out - I am back to my old MS Elite!. The SmartBoard has a much lighter touch, and once you get use to it, less of a stretch for your fingers. I made a lot of mistakes the first hour due to over-reaching! Ann, I am so glad that the Sony earphones work for you. I love them and find them very comfortable. I find that they help shut out almost all ambient noise (within reason, of course). Mary
