Give an MT an answer, you have helped them for today. Teach an MT to fish; and you have helped them for a lifetime

There are many times when it would be easy/tempting to just throw an answer out there for an someone. An easy question you know the answer to like the back of your hand. A question that would take you 5 seconds to answer.

We all get that.

We’d prefer that you not do it if at all possible

Why not? The above quote says it all. How do you know the answer to that question? In all likelihood – it’s because someone taught YOU how to do searches – how to use your reference books – how to think outside of the box to come up with the answer

It’s really an amazing gift many have that we are able to share with someone who may be in the midst of a struggle.

So, how do you answer the questions properly then?

A simple “check the MT Desk list of OB/GYN words” will do.

Or

“Change the k you have there to a c and see what you can come up with”

Or

“Try searching for the entire phrase in Google to see if you come up with your answer”

You get the idea

Again – the temptation to just throw an answer out there looms large over all of us – but this site was founded on the above philosophy and has served all who have used it to its fullest capacity well over many years.
