Need help desperately - how are you home-based hospital employees tracking your work time - are you on-line, log in/out, send time sheets?? We have a whole new transcription package but it doesn't track hours for home based employees (work off line, modem work in). HR may cancel our new home-based employee program if we can't get a way to legit track hrs (per HR as a legal requirement - says we can't continue as productivity only). All suggestions/responses as to how your hospital handles it would be GREATLY appreciated - many thanks

A few years back, I worked for a hospital out of my home. It was a trial "home based" program. To keep track of my hours, I simply "clocked in" and "clocked out" via my telephone at home. The hospital did away with the "punch" time clock per say, and went to a telephone based system for all employees. Those working at the hospital would simply use a telephone in their department to "clock in" and "clock out".

Hi Lepore,
There is a friend of mine who is a home-based employee & she does clocks in just like Northland. That would make sense. This hospital has a system where you clock in & clock out. They have been doing that for over three years.

Good luck.

I work part time from home for a hospital. We don't clock in or out, but we have a time sheet we fill out and submit. We have to put time in, time out, number of reports, number of lines. They made the sheet up in Excel and we have it on our computer at home, just fill it in and e-mail it to the supervisor at the end of each week. She has to fill it in again for each of us on the hospital's mainframe. They gave us space for up to three time in/time outs per day.

I'm like Becky, I fax my timesheet in every Friday afternoon but I am also on strictly a production pay basis. I guess this may be just for curiosity to see that the times of the day are covered by MTs but each person types at different rates and speeds and what I may get done in 6 hours it may take another person 8 hours or vice versa. As far as I know (I'm new to this company) there is no quota of the number of lines to achieve each day, but I guess you can just think of it as the more you type the more you make. Sometimes that 8 hours is hard to get. I've always been an independent contractor and have set my own hours and typed however much or however long I have wanted each day. I love this company but I have been put on a schedule of when I can type and sometimes its tough since I can only type in the afternoon and evening. I have two little ones both in baseball and whew! sometimes I have some really late nights.

Whah! Whah! I guess I've whined enough. Sorry I got a little off the subject there.
