Hello!

I have not done too much OB/GYN before and I have tried searching here on the desk and I didn't find this.......when the doctor dictates "gravida 2 para 1001"

How is it typed, is that correct? Or should there be a comma? Should there be anything separating the numbers 1001??

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Christine

G 2, P 1 0 0 1 - usually it is written this way, a space separating the numbers.

Also, as an explanation, gravida 2 would be 2 pregnancies, para 1 (would be 1 live birth, and 0 0 1 would be 2 pregnancies, 1 live birth, no stillbirth, no miscarriage, 1 abortion

I appreciate your help ch2O and Peter! Since you guys had different answers, I checked with my QA and her answer was: gravida 2, para 1-0-0-1

I guess this must be one of those things that everyone does a little differently!

ch20, I am confused. Thank you very much for your explanation, as this has always confused me! I have had an idea what it meant but not exactly. Now your explanation has me wondering if I should flag this number, as the patient is currently pregnant (18 weeks) so, could that be correct? wouldn't she then have to be a gravida 3 with the 1-0-0-1? Do you know of anywhere that I can look this up?

Thanks again!! Christine

Ok for anyone's information besides mine... I have found some info!

seems to b G-T-P-A-L, Gravida (total pregnancies), term-preterm-abortions-living

Thanks again ch2O and Peter!!

The para part of it is explained this way too. fullterm live-premature live-aborted-living. That's how we understand the figures. Is this correct?

just saw your post after posting the above para. I do not think you have to flag the figures. G2, P 1-0-0-1 fits fine if the lady is pregnant now. She has earlier had one fullterm live birth, no premature, no abortion and one child living.
