Is there a difference in the meaning of "curet" or "curette" as the surgical instrument? I can't find any source that gives different definitions for these two words. However, in certain surgical procedures a specific spelling seems to be used. (Such as "curette" with a D&C.) Can anyone tell me if there is a difference or are the two spellings used interchangeably? Thanks for the help!

curet SEE curette

curette, curet - Instrument in the form of a loop, ring or scoop with sharpened edges attached to a rod-shaped handle, used for curettage

I have always spelled it as curette. IMHO, be consistent. Use one or the other -- using your own preference, unless your client/service has one of their own. Either is acceptable, but I wouldn't interchange them.
