MD is treating this patient with the complaint of nausea & vomiting & rx's Thicken or thicken.

I looked in the MPR (Monthly Prescribing Reference) & Drake & Drake's Pharm Word book.

TIA.

Hi, not sure if this will help, but I found Ticon in American Drug Index, listed as an antiemetic, antivertigo agent 100 mg per ml/Inj.

Also, found Tigan (ADI)- antiemetic, Cap. 100 mg Bot. 100s, 250 mg Bot. 100s. Amp: (100 mg/ml) 2 ml. Box 10s. Vial 20 ml. Supp: 200 mg Box 10s, 50s. Pediatric Supp: 100 mg Box 10s.

OR could the doctor be slamming Phenergan into two syllables? Just a thought.....

I'm not sure how these are supposed to be pronounced, though, I would think it would be Teye-gan and Teye-con, rather than with a short "i" sound. Maybe mispronounced? HTH.

Thanks for that help Spellchick, it could very well be. But this MD when he said it, it was not Ticon but sounded exactly like thicken. Ticon would be an excellent choice.
Thanks again.

There is Thick-It. Would that be it?

I can't give you the exact scoop on it, and check the hyphen please, but parents put Thick-It in food?/liquids so aspiration is less of a problem if that is a problem usually. In the case where I saw it used, the speech therapist recommended it.

Guess what, it is Thick-It. Stacy Abrabrams on SMT gave me this link.

Have a nice Thanksgiving all.
