Most of the fabulous new changes are self-explanatory. I'm still tinkering with the "fluff" though.
The new start page is default to the "portal" view. In "My Stuff" and "My Preferences" you can change that so that you start at the forum list. You can also turn off the left border (with the search, calendar, etc.) if you find that annyoing.
I am still reading/learning myself - but those are the most obvious items I could potentially see most of you having issues with.
