If you are an M-TEC student/graduate, prospective student or anyone trying to contact us by email and have not received a reply, please note that there have been some problems with "free" email accounts.

Apparently yahoo, hotmail, gmail and others have been adjusting the filtering system at their server levels to meet various federal standards as well as increase their security and spam problems. This is being done on the free email accounts only, according to our information. This causes problems when you are trying to send or receive emails, and they are being rejected/forbidden. To compound the problem, yahoo and hotmail do not send out their undeliverable messages for several days, if at all, so we may have no way of knowing that the email didn't get to us or back to you. You would also not know that immediately, because you would not get an undeliverable message or the message that the email did not go through would be drastically delayed.

According to our Technology Instructor, Mike DeTuri, if you use a web-based server for your communication, like Yahoo or Hotmail or Gmail, when you visit the site to check your mail, your ISP treats that info the same way it would treat a web page rather than treating it the way it treats spam email.
