The Dems' esteemed 'unifier' at a fundraiser the other day in my hometown: See here. Excerpt:
Quote:
On Friday, speaking at a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Obama made what can only be described as a pre-emptive strike. "It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy," he said. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. 'He's young and inexperienced, and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?'"

He went on to predict that Republicans would say that "he's got a feisty wife" as a way of attacking Michelle Obama. "We know the strategy because they've already shown their cards," he said. "Ultimately, I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us."
Yep, the stuff that divides us too, Mr. Obama, are the acts of constantly bringing up this sort of thing (like so much sand to throw in peoples' faces) and even when some of it does not even apply. When did you last hear a Pub go on about you being black, sir? To my recollection, it has only been Dems who have done that. You call for 'adults' to be in Washington. Fine. Start off by waiting to grow up yourself before embarking on any trips there.

The more exposure I get of this guy, the more it becomes apparent to me that he indeed harbors the kind of negative sentiments we have seen exhibited by the likes of Wright and others who he has kept company with for years and years. It is beyond me why anyone in their right mind wants someone with such a sophomoric approach to the political process to be their POTUS.

I think the republicans have not been in the ring yet with race as the dems were too busy pulling each other's hair out during the race for the nomination and they didn't need to address it because we were too busy destroying ourselves.

I think to mention it once or twice is okay. If he stays on this course I think it will be a mistake. No one likes to think of themselves as a racist though most are in one way or another and this could backfire on him.

I find it a double standard.

If dems mention he is black it is okay.

If pubs were to mention it we are called racist.

Why does it have to be mentioned at all? Who cares what the color of his skin is. In earlier posts someone basically called McCain ugly. Is she racist against what she/he considers to be ugly people. It's the issues that matter and should be debated. Why does he need to bring it up at all?
