In my opinion, he could go on an extended vacation and not lift a finger from now until November and still pull it off hands down. Where is the competition? Is it that old man with the twitch, wimpy voice and pasty complexion who constantly dribbles on about being a war hero? How yesterday is that?

I was just about to post this very article with the question in mind: Is McCain really serious about winning this race? He needs to be out there chopping up Obama's lousy ideas like so much onion and celery, it's not funny. But is he doing that? Hell no. He might as well send BO an ingraved invitation to be our POTUS. What an idiot.
Edited to add this from USA Today.

bobbcat, I get the impression you don't like McCain, LOL. Even though I support the opposition it does seem like something weird is going on. Maybe the republicans are making him a sacrificial lamb for this election to put the democrats in the position to try to fix the mess (and not being able to) the US is in while grooming someone behind the scenes for the 2012 election.

I believe that Obama's lead will be cut once the debates begin. Obama is not a good speaker when he has to think on his feet, and we have not heard much of anything that he would do other than raise taxes. With our economy being in the hole, people are not going to want to be paying more in taxes. He is one of the most liberal senators in Congress and most people fall more towards the center. I'm not a big McCain fan either, so I'll be waiting to hear the debates.

Me too. I think folks will vote the party though (well, we don't know about Hill's folks).

Polls change as often as we change our underwear, so I don't put much stock in any of them, no matter who they say is ahead.
'Tis a shame people vote for a party rather than a person since no party has members who are in agreement on much of anything. I'd like to believe thinking people who love their country would vote for the person they truly believe has the best plan for the country and not just empty promises that the candidate knows for a fact certain he can't enact, and wouldn't help the country. Talk is cheap, viable plans that can be passed through Congress are what we need.

Well, I think the folks vote the party because they belong to the one that does best support the way they feel. I respect the republicans but, while the democrats have some real "winners" in their ranks, they still speak my language and therefore I will vote the party. If the republicans start speaking my language, I'll vote for them.

bobbcat, I get the impression you don't like McCain, LOL. LOL! True. He admits he doesn't know much about economics, then apparently does nothing about it. Rush played a segment featuring McCain voicing support for 'windfall' profits tax on the oil companies. Rush's response was so funny. He started breathing heavily like someone with an acute asthma attack and thundered 'You IDIOT!!!' I LMAO.
I don't know if the Pubs are making him a sacrificial lamb or not. He does seem to be, however, the MSM's choice for the Pubs' side of the race.
As for BO crossing the finish line first in November, I think his chances will hinge on how big a role the 'Bradley' factor plays into it. Rush sub that filled in Friday (name escapes me) sounded confident that Obama is unelectable on that basis.

I think that whomever is elected in November needs to be ready to deal with bin laden sooner rather than later. All of his terrorist attempts on U.S. soil after 9/11 have been unsuccessful because we are on watch. I think that bin laden is just waiting for a change in POTUS in order to try again.

Odd two other posters mentioning 'sacrificial lamb.' I have been thinking that myself for the last couple of months. The Dems have put up a 'sacrificial lamb' a time or two themselves.

DaisyDuke, Anyone can attack physical attributes. But most seem to prefer to debate the issues. Obama is not perfect physically, but what is the point in emphasizing his physical shortcomings. How he will perform as a POTUS has nothing to do with looks.

I do feel for the republicans who do not really care for McCain though as I felt the same way about John Kerry. I did honestly consider not voting at all.

Sure, there are alot that feel that way, but I think that more and more will vote for McCain just because of the fact that BO is so so far left liberal and they see him as taking the country so far left that they will vote for McCain even though they do not agree with him as much or he is not their ideal candidate.

You may be surprised at just how moderate Obama becomes now that we are in the GE instead of the primaries.
As for McCain, he may lean farther right for now or perhaps head more to the center as well depending on what his team thinks will help him win. It is hard to tell what faction of the vote they will actively pursue at this moment.

Magda, Actually I am not surprised at all. Neither one of them has been subtle about pandoring to whatever group they are in front of. Positions amazingly change from day to day. It's like they think there is no one taping what they say.

They both are flip-flopping on things, so at least they are equal there.
