He's capitulating to immunity for the telecoms.

While you're at it, you can tell him to close the Enron loophole too. Supposedly it is buried somewhere in the farm bill.
Just Google "close the Enron loophole".

As a presidential candidate, I would think it would be important to him to not only oppose the bill, but to demonstrate some of the leadership qualities he is supposed to have to make sure that others oppose it as well.
It will be interesting to see just how presidential he acts with this item.

I can't help but wonder sometimes if TPTB are laughing out their arses, sacrificing Johnny Comes Marching Home and handing the morass we are in to the Chicago machine. I feel the same 'ole game is afoot, but that's to be expected I guess.
I was hoping we wouldn't have to hold his feet to the fire this early in the home stretch, but looks like we are going to have to keep after him from the git go. I guess somewhere in the back of my mind I figured he would start taking his half out of the middle eventually.
Nancy's turning out to be a real shining star too, huh?

Bumping this thread because later today we will all see just how self-serving and false are Obama's promises of change and hope.
His caving in now, and/or just plain lies in the past, about FISA and protecting Bush's Telecom cronies should be all the evidence one needs to know just how his presidency will go. This is not about moving to the middle to garner more support. This is all about showing his true colors.
(Ooops, I used the C-word!)

This is all about showing his true colors.
I hope he keeps on showing them as the campaign season unfolds. Hopefully, voters will have made a truly educated decision regarding BO by the time they walk into the voting booth on the 4th. I still think though that if he becomes POTUS, he will be a huge disappointment to his electorate.

I think the best-case scenario would be that he so infuriates his base before the convention that his candidacy is actually rejected at that point. Yes, it would be a huge disaster for the party, but even though I work within the party I think that this kind of disaster would ultimately be more easily recovered from than the disaster that would be his presidency.
The worst-case scenario, of course, is that he is elected. Beyond all the problems already discussed, I believe he has tricks in his bag that even the most jaded of us have yet to envision.
But, back to the present... I wonder if any of the Obamaphiles will actually stand up and try to defend this sell out.

LOl trops, did you forget, he said before that he would let it pass and just keep an eye on it. Of course his base as well as he will defend his decision. To Obamaphiles he can do no wrong.

The pass was regarding the filibuster, not the FISA enactment including the Amemdment II that provides blanket, retroactive amnesty to the telecons. His own site's message boards evidence the uproar this flip-flop has launched, and the nagging suspicion of other, yet-to-be-revealed betrayals as well.

To elaborate on your scenario - Obama gets rejected, Hillary gets nominated? Hill voted NO on FISA.
