A leading legal journalist believes that if Barack Obama wins the presidency in 2008, he might appoint Hillary Clinton to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Opinions?

Speculating on speculation serves absolutely no point, ABMT.
I imagine that you will get the usual HillHaters that will opine that this would be a horrible idea, and a few Hill supporters that would think this would be fine.
Me? I'll wait for BO to first actually get the presidency, then for a sitting judge to die or retire, then for BO to nominate her before debating the merits.

Hey trop, if there was no speculation there would be no news channels on CNN

So noted trops. The appointment of Supreme court judges, however, is part of the decision making process of who people will vote for in the general election, so worthy of consideration beforehand.

In MHO, BO has offered something juicy to Clinton. Recall the secret meeting (Barbara Boxer's house if memory serves me well) they had in the wake of her conceding the nomination to him? I doubt seriously that it will be the veep slot (as wife Michelle allegedly cannot abide Hillary). OTOH though, would Hillary want to sit on the US SC? I am inclined to think that she still has high hopes of being POTUS one day.

Oh there is no doubt that a carrot was held out to her. As for them being a team, I think you are right. I can not see it being in Hillary's makeup to be second fiddle to anyone and I don't think that Obama's ego would allow him to go there. He had to offer her something to get her supporters, though.

I seriously doubt VP, though I suspect that would have more to do with other factors than personal dislike. SC judge...maybe, I just don't know. Most other positions it seems she would be interested in already have someone firmly entrenched. I've been curious, too. If not SC judge or VP, what do other people think he may have offered?

Just as a point of clarification, they met at Senator Dianne Feinstein's house, not Barbara Boxer's (although both women are Senators from California).

The only other thing I can think of would be perhaps a cabinet position.

Probably to run the socialized healthcare.

If I were a betting person I would bet on the socialized health care too. After all, what is more dear to Hill's heart? I doubt she has the patience to wait around for a "possible" Supreme Court nomination. Maybe he will just create something for her.
Seems like he has already made it pretty clear that Veep is out -the Patty Solis-Doyle thing.
