I'm new to MT Chat and I just wanted to say Hello! My name is Kasey and I've been in this field for over 10 years and currently work in Quality Assurance for a small but growing MT company. I look forward to conversing with other MTs/QA personnel, helping new MTs, and answering questions of seasoned ones as well.

Hi crazz & Deb. I'm new around here too; still a struggling student. I find this place to be very helpful.

Hi there...I am new to MTchat as well...I am a recent graduate and I am trying to obtain independent status from a outsourcing company...I am working on a report right now that is talking about "inflammation of short extensor tendon" and it sounds like the Dr. dictates "left _____ (sounds like "declare-a-vein"!) syndrome"! Ever heard of anything like that? I've tried to be resourceful, and "google", WebMD and of course, Medical Dictionary...but no luck...any suggestions? Many thanks. TJSwan

tjswan:
1. Your question would be better placed in the Word Help section. No one will notice it in this forum and thread. Plus, once in Word Help Forum, a question should be started as a "NEW TOPIC" rather than tacked onto the thread someone else started. The "subject" of your NEW TOPIC should be stated as something like "S/L declare-a-vein syndrome" or something fairly specific to the area of the body your question will be about. The sentence or context your S/L appears in should be stated also.

2. Try Googling "inflammation tendon hand" (without the quotes) and see if you can find anything after checking out the resultant links that is your S/L. Alternately, you might look up "syndrome" in a Stedman's Word Book (My Stedman's Medical Speller" has a good list of those) and under the D's to see if you see anything familiar. You will be seeking a French word.

I hope this helps you.

Inkyfingers, translated from the gibberish, I believe this equals "I am taking an employment test for an IC job, am having trouble with it, and hope you will take it for me." (If you already knew that, okay.)

I think the OP missed their calling. Sounds like marketing might be a good fit.

If she is QA, the companies who outsource her should be very afraid.

This is a professional MT board.

You might want to read all the pinned posts before you start posting willy-nilly in 'net speak.

You're welcome.

Great response inky! Points in the right direction without giving the answer. I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't research stuff on my own
