I saw a post further down from a mentor looking for a "mentee" and decided I'd love to mentor someone too! I have "e-mentored" someone before and found it very enjoyable giving encouragement, answering questions, etc. I work FT and have worked in all different capacities in the MT industry. Anyone looking for some one-on-one encouragement? Send me a brief e-mail at masonk2@yahoo.com letting me know what you are looking for from a mentor, and I will send my qualifications as well.

Wow, kb. That's really cool of you. I'll email you later in the day. Gotta go to Yoga class.
(I'm a newbie to this chat room; talk to you later).

Hi kb. So I didn't email you yesterday. I'd rather do it from home (I'm at work now) so I'll have to wait a couple hours...
I finally started branching out with my studying, rather than restricting myself to the course info., & I just wish I'd thought of that sooner. This chat room is SO encouraging with so many, like you, willing to help us struggling students; and you sound like one busy lady. How do you do it?

Oh heck, I better get back to doing what they pay me for...
Thanks again. Talk to you later...

I think all of us have had the experience of finding it hard to get started in this business in some way or another and most of us want to pass it along. And let's face it, it's an isolating profession - I like "meeting" new people and keeping connected. I "e-mentored" a new grad once. I'm not sure how much I really contributed, but when she found a job she liked I was so happy for her. I certainly don't claim to know everything, but I have worked in a lot of different capacities in the MT industry including my own business but it seems I always come back to transcription. I am working both FT and PT, but I am always on e-mail.
